We were hired by the CIO of Intuit to represent the IT department in an enterprise-wide initiative to develop a next generation business infrastructure (NGBI) for Intuit that would leverage social, mobile and software-as-a-service technologies for its products and services to customers.

Approach

We worked with the CIO, CTO, VP of Intuit Products, architects, and other senior managers to identify and implement new digital business models for generating revenue, including subscription, pay-for-use, advertising-based, etc. We also worked with directors of the Intuit IT department to create new relationships with internal customers who were owners of customer data and processes.

Results

The NGBI initiative laid the foundation for Intuit’s subsequent growth and success in converting from a software product company to a software-as-a-service company that was among the earliest to leverage social, mobile and service-oriented architectures for business gain.  This successful transition enabled Intuit to continue to dominate the financial and tax preparation software market for small businesses, accountants and individuals.
